HISTORY OF FISA

This Festival, International Kite Festival of Tavira then, is held for the first time on March 2006. The beach chosen is Cabanas de Tavira Island. The kite Festival is an EOLIS dream and it becomes an important part of it. The partnership with Clube Recreativo Cabanense was “natural”, because our goals were shared. In that year we had a lot of wind (too much, some times) and also rain... but the meteo was not enough to spoil the ambience and the feelings we want to share with all of you. This first year the novelty was the indoor kite flying.

In March 2007, FISA was back on tracks and we decided to give it a wider sense. We called it International Kite Festival of East Algarve. In this way, we adopted another goal: to contribute to the promotion of East Algarve as a reference of quality. We had excellent weather conditions outside and inside water. Wind for every taste and it was the success we wished for. Barril’s beach, in Santa Lúzia (Tavira) was small... In 2007, there was a big investment in the quality of the teams gathered, as well as two novelties: Kitesurf  Downwind and the Lecture on security, clouds and wind.

In 2008, the most known by FISA will be held in the large beach of Manta Rota and in Tavira (night activities). We intend to wider even more the sports in FISA, so we will have Paragliding, Paramotor and Windsurf. This time, it will happen FISA on the 14th, 15th and 16th March 2008!
